Naomi Campbell Starts Photographer Search

Supermodel Naomi Campbell is the latest fashionista to come out and conduct their own talent search, looking for the next top fashion photographer, Naomi joins the likes of Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Tyson Beckford who have all had some type of talent search before her.
At the moment Naomi’s search is only internet based, but who say’s where its to go from there. It could end up being the next rival to America’s Next Top Model. I just don’t see why Naomi could be the judge on Britain’s Next Top Model. The Judging position fits her perfectly and could really be the push that programme needs, but whatever, check out the quote from the talent site below:
Naomi Campbell has set two new and exciting challenges for our Talenthouse community; the first is to search the globe for the next great Fashion Photographer. One of the most recognizable international faces in fashion, Naomi has graced the covers of hundreds of magazines worldwide working with legendary photographers. With over two decades of experience in front of the camera she has a sharp, creative eye understanding the photography required to create lasting, iconic images. For all you photographers out there who have dreamed of working within the fashion industry and have been searching for your first big break, now it may be closer than you think! The challenge is simple. Submit a fashion story working with the theme of glamour. In brief: Be creative, bold, daring, stylish and most importantly be fashionable [SOURCE]
Britney Spears: 3 – Music Video Premieres

Britney Spears – 3
Britney Spears, has released the music video for “3″ the debut single of her upcoming greatest hits “The Singles Collection”. The video which once again leaves me wanting more, its literally the same old stiff Britney. I find it so sad that shes lost the ability to move, even with the dancers behind her it doesnt look anymore special. On top of that, why is Britney’s hair never on point; whoever is doing her weave needs to be sacked and then someone should steer her in the direction of a Black Hairdressers, like seriously.
On the up, the styling in the video was ok, however I’m a bit sick of seeing Brit with all her thighs out, I feel like I’ve seen that since Gimme More then on top of that I see it in her concerts but whatever.
Anyway Check out the lackluster vid below:
Kanye West: Glow In the Dark – Book

Kanye West is really starting to get stuck in with the book thing; returning to the world of hardback’s and best sellers, Kanye has released his latest book entitled “Glow In The Dark” the book follows him throughout his successful Glow in the Dark Tour while also featuring photography by Nabil Elderkin
Check the product description below:
Are you ready to glow in the dark? Crash landed alone on an unknown planet for the entirety of his Glow in the Dark set with huge space scapes behind him, Kanye West takes you on a musical and visual odyssey that no antihero has taken you on before. This deluxe volume represents another leg of that voyage, giving you a gorgeous photographic ride through West’s life, both on and offstage, as well as into the intimate technologies of his creative process with top visual artists of today. The instrumentals are tracks from his set remastered to echo John Williams’s famous score (”Jesus Walks” is Vader’s theme). In personal sketches and reference imagery, 3-D models of the holodeck-ian stage, and costume designs (including his Grace Jones–inspired outfits for opening act Rihanna), West once again expands a medium and triumphs in the artist’s epic struggle to be creative. With a CD including previously unreleased instrumentals from the show as well as an interview with tour collaborator Spike Jonze, the book is not only a memento of one of the most successful musical performances of the year, but it is also an experience all its own. Victoria Beckham graces the cover of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar, the duel covers shot by Alexi Lubomirski are stunning and show Victoria at her best. I love the styling and the fact that it doesnt detract from her personality. Check out the two covers below:

Midweek Throwback Session
This is the Midweek Thowback post, each Wednesday I will be going back, wayyy back in time and finding those songs that we all grew to know and love, have fun:
UPDATE: Sorry for the delay this week guys, I know allot of you messaged me asking why this post wasnt up. I haven’t been feeling well since Wednesday after the MJ film so I’m playing catch with you all now. I know its not Midweek but I’m still gonna do it.
Let’s start with a banger.
MICHAEL JACKSON – HEARTBREAK HOTEL (BAD TOUR 1987)
2PAC – KEEP YA HEAD UP (1993)
MARIAH CAREY – THE ROOF (1997)
TLC – WHAT ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS (1992)
SOUL 4 REAL – IF YOU WANT IT (1994)
The Greatest Tour Ever: This Is It.
This Is It.
Seeing the film on Wednesday I just had to sleep to absorb it all in,but now i’m 100% ready to write my thoughts clearly.
That tour would have been the best ever.
Ok people, *spoilers* ahead so take precautions.
I went to see the film with awareness, I didnt want to be sucked into the thought that everything leading up to Michael’s death was perfect. However I was ready to feel the expierence of what could have been.
Watching the film quarter way through I was finding it hard to continue, an uncontrollable knot in my stomach made me unable to eat my McDonald’s that I snuck in with me lol, but all I kept thinking was, this man wanted to please his fans, he just wanted to make them happy and now he’s gone. It made me feel like part of his death was our fault; but it wasnt until I really started to see the masterpiece that he had put together that the thought went away.
Watching every detail, every movement, every word, I can tell you the tour was well thought out down to the T; Michael knew how he wanted everything, music, lighting, dancers, even the props. He sang; it wasnt perfect but you also knew that he wasnt even trying and it was still 80% good. He danced, and the stage arrangement was perfect, how the video scenes would inter-link with the dancers and the stage were also excellent, but the most exciting moment for me was seeing the DOME project that Michael had worked on secretly.
Revamped versions of Thriller, Earth song, and Smooth Criminal make me feel that Michael was taken from this earth too soon. If anything my these parts were my highlights of the film, particularly the Smooth Criminal segment; remade in film noir style, it featured Michael added to clips from the films: Dead Reckoning, Gilda, In a Lonely Place, Angels With Dirty Faces and The Big Sleep, all of which flowed magically into one another making it look like a whole new video.
For those who dont know Michael said that after this tour he wanted to go into filmmaking, directing and etc, from watching this I now understand why, if this is the kind of ideas he had there was so much he had left to give. The Earth song segment was beautiful, along with the Thriller piece and although they had not touched what was considered the scared part of the short film [Thriller], the mere recreation of it was amazing. To add to that several other backdrops were shown throughout the time, including a restored 60s tv studio for the J5 section, and a backdrop for The Way You Make Me Feel very similar to something from Westside Story.
All these elements thrown at me and I’m just sat there knowing how good it would have been had it come to pass. To think they didnt show all the performances he rehearsed, Scream, Dirty Diana, Ghosts, Who Is it and more… I know that the DVD has to be SO much better. I cant wait.
One thing I do hate, I feel like AEG Live is capitalizing on Michael’s death and I despise that. Even by me buying a ticket for the film and eventually getting the DVD their getting a good cut out of it which makes me feel uncomfortable, annoyingly though its something I will have to live with as Im not missing out on what’s left of Michael’s legacy.
Long Live the King.

Mini-Skirts For Men – Miuccia Prada

Already, I know some of you have confused faces, but dont. It’s time to open our minds, get with the times, Know what I mean, Well If you don’t keep reading.
Miuccia Prada, has some interesting plans for the Mens A/W10 line, riding on the trend which has been bubbling under for a while now she is planning on putting mini-skirts for men into the collection. After an interview with Parisian magazine: Purple Fashion she said:
I’m working on [a men’s collection] right now and someone at the office worriedly asked me, ‘You’re not going to make short skirts again, are you?’,” Prada recalls of a recent conversation with a collaborator. “So I’m now pushing it even further, just for revenge!” She continues. “Menswear is so limited so I’m free with my ideas. Otherwise I’d die of boredom.” [SOURCE]
Given that Marc Jacobs is the biggest advocate and has pushed trend for a while now it’s not really a surprise to me, plus I did see some skirts for men at the MAN show in London last month. The funny thing is, you would think it would look really feminine but it actually didnt, if worn the right way it really could be a big thing. Saying that, I know this wont filter down to the masses for at least another 2 years. lol
Anyway check out some of the pics I took at the J.W. Anderson MAN show below:

Michael Jackson’s: This Is It – In Cinemas Today

Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” film will premiere today in cinema’s across the world. Hopefully you were one of the fans lucky enough to book a ticket in advance as this is sure to be the sell out event of the year.
Sadly I will be going to see the film as opposed to the concert which I had a ticket for and even though I know this is not how Michael intended us to see the performance this is the closest I will get to seeing what could have been. Mostly I’m pining to see the DVD of this as I know it will be packed full of extras, but I’m just sad that I never got the chance to experience the real thing I’m sure this would have been the best tour ever.
One thing, I will be watching this film with a watchful eye as rumours have swirled that body doubles were used in scenes among with some other trickery’s. Also I’m not settled on Michael’s death, there are still some things which haven’t been answered; hearing testimonies from some fans who saw Michael and met him on a few occasions, some of the things they have told me about his thoughts on this tour and how he was feeling inside have left me a bit disturbed, but, I wont divulge into it more as I’m still gathering information plus I dont want to spoil anyone else’s viewing.
Just keep your eyes open.

Rihanna: RATED R – Official Album cover

This is the official cover art for Rihanna’s “Rated R” album, shot by fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth it’s what I expected in once sense, and not in another; I expected it to be dark and edgy with very strong and empowering imagery, but I did think there would be more colour mainly red, like blood or something that made it pop a bit more but I’m guessing keeping it in black and white helps keep the feeling sharp and icy.
I love the image looking at it it’s got a similar theme to the shoot Rihanna did for Italian Vogue this September, also it gives me this Grace Jones esq vibe which I’m loving 100%.
“Rated R” is due out Nov 23
I’ll keep you posted.
Beyonce and Lady Gaga Collaborate Again

Beyonce and Lady Gaga have collaborated for the second time but this time on Gaga’s upcoming disc “The Fame Monster”. The track funnily enough titled “Telephone” is about someone being pestered while trying to dance in a nightclub. With Beyonce saying lyrics like “you being on the other end of the phone aint gonna make me get my coat any faster” this is straight-up gonna be a banger.
Sources have confirmed to me that this WILL be the second single release from “The Fame Monster” so keep a look out people you know its gonna be hot.
For those who dont know, Lady Gaga recently featured on Beyonce’s ”Video Phone”.

Chris Brown: I Can Transform Ya – Video Premiere
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the video I’m actually a bit jealous lol, the special-effects are off the hook!! and if this is anything to expect of the quality for Chris’s new album I’m really impressed. I love the way the video began with him transforming from the car, makes me feel like a Lil kid again; aswell as the other transformations throughout the video, particularly the girls, I think it’s really creative how they made the outfits so technical and interesting to watch. Speaking of clothes, I’m loving the whole new-age Jodeci look they created for Chris. Personally I’ve been a fan of that style for a long while now so it’s interesting to see how the stylist used the 90s flavour for inspiration.
2 Thumbs up Chris, Keep it up!

Listening to the tracks which have leaked over the months waiting for this project I can tell you this will be one of Amerie’s best albums yet. I’m totally gonna get the CD when it’s out and I’m really looking forward to the video’s, so far “Red Eye”, “Swag back” and “Why R U (Remix)” are my fave’s but I’m sure as soon as the album drops in its entirety and I’ll gain some more.
In Love & War, Nov 2.
The Fame Monster: Lady Gaga – Review

Right – so we’ve heard Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame Monster’ and it’s a pretty astonishing piece of work. Lyrically, sonically, melodically and conceptually it’s right up there with its predecessor ‘The Fame’, with a definite feel of things moving in a new direction.
We know a lot of you are thinking that this is just a cash-in reissue of ‘The Fame’ with a few tracks chucked on. It’s not that at all – this is a collection of songs in its own right. When you buy this you will not be buying ‘The Fame’ again in order to get at a couple of extra songs – you’ll be buying a new album which just so happens to have a copy of ‘The Fame’ in the same box.
If it helps make sense of things, imagine purchasing ‘The Fame Monster’ 2-disc set then throwing the ‘The Fame’ CD away. In fact that is what you should actually do when you get this. Throw ‘The Fame’ out of the window. ‘The Fame Monster’ is a real album with its own personality.
In brief:
- Eight tracks.
- Four potential singles.
- No shit songs. Here’s a track by track.
‘Bad Romance’
Waffle: ‘Poker Face’ reinvented. Can you believe that some people have said that this song sounds too much like ‘Poker Face’? As if anything could sound too much like one of the best songs of 2008/09? It would be like saying ‘the problem with this restaurant is that the food is too nice and too reasonably priced’, or ‘the problem with this hat is that it makes me look too attractive’. Now imagine wearing an amazing hat in the world’s best restaurant. THAT IS WHAT THIS SONG IS LIKE.
Verdict: 7/8‘Alejandro’
Waffle: It sounds like this. And by ‘this’ we mean an amazing romantic post-Italotronic triumph.
Verdict: 7/8‘Monster’
Waffle: Opens with snatches of dialogue (‘Don’t call me Gaga’, ‘I’ve never seen one like that before’, ‘Don’t look at me like that’) then launches into a story of Gaga pulling a “wolf in disguise”. The chorus is a big chant of “that boy is a monster, that boy is a monster” and there are some ‘Just Dance’-isms along the way too. There’s a great breakdown for the middle eight: “I wanna just dance but he took me home instead, uh-oh there was a monster in my bed, we French kissed on a subway train, he tore my clothes right off, he ate my heart and then he ate my brain”.
Verdict: 6/8‘So Happy I Could Die’
Waffle: A mid-tempo number with some Tiesto-esque ravey bits, some references to The Act Of Masturbation, and a chorus lyric “happy in the club with a bottle of red wine, stars in our eyes ‘cos we’re having a good time, so happy I could die”. Not a single but an important part of the whole ‘Fame Monster’ thing.
Verdict: 5/8‘Speechless’
Waffle: At one point this was a big piano ballad but since Ron Fair’s production has been added it’s more along the lines of a ‘Starman’ or an ‘All The Young Dudes’-type affair. This is the track about Gaga’s father and it seems to be written from Gaga’s mother’s point of view. By the time the second verse comes around there seem to be strong hints of booze (“I can’t believe how you looked at me with your Johnnie Walker eyes”, “raise a glass to mend all the broken hearts” etc) so it seems this is the ‘Fear Of Alcohol Monster’ Gaga previously mentioned. The chorus is “I’ll never talk again, oh boy you’ve left me speechless / I’ll never love again, oh friend you’ve left me speechless” and one of the best bits finds Gaga singing “after all the boys and the girls that we’ve been through, would you give it all up if I promised boy to you that I’ll never talk again, and I’ll never love again, I’ll never write a song, or even sing along…” This is a massive, massive ballad which doesn’t sound like anything else you’ve heard from Lady Gaga and could do for her what ‘Beautiful’ did for Christina Aguilera. At the very least, it’s a good lighters-aloft live anthem.
Verdict: 7/8‘Dance In The Dark’
Waffle: The chorus to this is amazing – imagine RedOne to the next level with a massive emotionally-charged synth riff chucked in along the way. Actually the everything to this is amazing, it opens with the words “silicone, saline, poison, inject me” and the arms-aloft, four-to-the-floor chorus is a chant of “baby loves to dance in the dark, cos when he’s looking she falls apart.” There’s another line about “she looks good but her boyfriend says she’s a tramp” – it seems to be about women who are marginalised or who are in (mentally?) abusive relationships. We may have totally missed the point of this song, and if so ‘apols’ in advance.
Best bit: an almost pant-wettingly excellent, ‘Vogue’-style rap breakdown in which Gaga lets rip: “Marilyn, Judy, Sylvia, tell them how you feel girls [something we couldn't quite make out] hot like Liberace, find your freedom in the music, find your Jesus, find your cutie, you will never fall apart Diana, you’re still in our hearts, never let you fall apart, together we’ll dance in the dark”. AMAZING.
Verdict: 8/8‘Telephone’
Waffle: A song about being pestered by someone on the phone when you’re trying to have a dance in a nitespot. It’s a little bit like Gwen’s ‘What You Waiting For?’ meets Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’ meets about fifty other things. “I cannot text you with a drink in my hand,” Gaga notes at one point. The structure’s quite exciting: quiet harpy intro / “kinda busy, k-kinda busy” bridge as beat kicks in / verse / chorus (“stop calling, stop calling, I don’t wanna talk any more”) / postchorus bit / ‘The Way I Are’-style rap / Beyonce rap (“should have left my phone at home cos this is a disaster”) / breakdown verse / “kinda busy” bridge / chorus / another bit / ‘The Way I Are’ rap bit / extra ‘My Humps’-esque (but not really) “my telephone! My telephone!” outro, then “we’re sorry, the number you have reached is not in service” operator message. We love Beyonce insisting that some bellend on the other end of the phone won’t make her get her coat any faster. Bonus fact: The guest vocalist on this was going to be someone else, but then the guest vocalist wanted to put the song on her own greatest hits album, so Lady Gaga made alternative arrangements.
Verdict: 7/8‘Teeth’
Waffle: A wobbly, stompy, bouncy marching song. Opens with a “don’t want no money, just want your sex” line, includes lots of chanting of “SHOW ME YOUR TEETH! SHOW ME YOUR TEETH!”, and a foray into Black Betty territory
Verdict: 6/8That’s all from one listen – this album has loads more to give up from repeated plays and we can’t wait to get stuck in properly. ‘Monster’ and ‘Bad Romance’ have elements of ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’ but these seem like knowing nods back in the direction of ‘The Fame’, while other songs – ‘Dance In The Dark’, ‘Teeth’ hint at what lies ahead for the next, third Lady Gaga album.
My Review as soon as the album leaks.

The Dirty Dozen: Blackbook – November Issue 2009

Ahhh, *breath of fresh air* Finally good menswear and styling is making it’s way back to our magazines, after years of seeing suits after suits grace the pages of nearly all magazine’s devoted to menswear this feels great to see something more inspiring. I love all the looks and want quite a few pieces, already I’ve got those studded Christian Louboutin’s on order. Mmm hmm.
Anyway, I love the photos and styling you can really see the Karlheinz Weinberger influence. More stuff like this please!

Stella McCartney For The Gap: Kidswear

Stella McCartney is expanding her horizons once again by designing a new kidswear line for The Gap, the new line will consist of 70 pieces and be directly for GapKids and babyGap; the proposed launch date is Nov 2 at selected Gap stores in major capitals around the world, however with the delay Gap had putting out the Pierre Hardy shoes, I’m skeptical whether this will be out on time.

Winter Boots Round Up 101: Ladies
Ladies, it’s officially time to update your winter boots, this year their sexier than ever so whip out your books and take notes.
Christian Louboutin: Devassima 120 Platform Boots – £1,223.00

Balmain: Urban Rocker Boots – £1,219.00

Stella McCartney: Chrome Detail Over-The-Knees £697.00

Topshop Unique: Paramount Boot – £150.00

Topshop Unique: Baxter Lace-Up Over-The-Knee – £120.00

Today, I’m looking back over the list of boots and wondering why the prices remain quite high, but then I remember something my mum said “You Pay For Quality”. These boots are going to last you all winter and longer, sure you could probably find something slightly cheaper, but what will the quality be like. It’s better you make that one-off payment and know you got a quality piece that will last you more than one season. So as I always say, whip out you credit cards and do some shopping. Till next time.
Here Endeth the Lesson.
